Well, you’re actually helping them pay for the rent, hence the high markup on… everything sold there. I’ve never bought any snacks or drinks at a cinema/theater and probably never will (even if I hardly ever have popcorn)
For someone who lives halfway around the world from the US, you do an amazing job of accurately capturing the current moviegoing experience. Or do things in Lebanon actually mirror the US that closely? A very sobering thought.
Hey there Ajax! Thanks so much for your kind words! Apparently the movie going experience is the same throughout the world. In other words, “a giant rip-off”!
hi Ajax, why is it a sobering thought? Why would you think a comic strip artist living in another contient is fixated on US experiences, and why would you think other places are that different (other than west-centric and distorted news in the media)?
I wasn’t implying that you’re fixated on the US, though the dollar-denominated prices might encourage that view. Certainly we here do have a very limited picture of other what goes on in other countries, so seeing things that seem distorted to us (i.e., ridiculous movie-concession prices) going on elsewhere is an eye-opener. Alas, a common view (when any exist at all) here is that countries like Lebanon are dusty bombed-out wastelands. It has been an encouraging experience to read and enjoy your comic and learn that we are all a lot more alike than I’ve imagined. My consciousness is being raised.
this is so true….I prefer the alternative, DVD with 500 ll bag of pop corn from the supermarket. plus you can smoke at home, whereas you can’t in the movies, and 3d is just a stupid gimmick. I just felt like ranting
The best movies in Lebanon are shown during festivals and retrospectives. Luckily they are still a bit more affordable.
But the cartoon is so true, no doubt. Good job Sareen.

Haha brilliant, sad and true. (._. )
Movie popcorn costs a ridiculous amount of money, and I can never figure out how long the popcorn has just been sitting there.
Hopefully it’s “younger” than I am!
1- we can pay 1000 L.L. for a bag of pop corn (the old fashion ones:P) + 500LL Gas … the bag will make pop corn enough to feed around 500 Persons
SO TRUE!
I love going to the movies, sadly I’ve had to learn robbing banks to afford it.
Rob banks to go see a ” bank robbery” movie?

I’m always glad other people are more diplomatic than me Sorry about the rant Ajax!
Faith in humanity restored @Ajax @Hala
Yep, truth. But dang, those nachos are tasty.
