Not to mention the “hammer kiss” whereby your grandma proceeds to head butt your face every time she kisses you! *owie*
P.S the “two kiss” greeting is actually the way the French greet each other and we’ve also somehow adapted that as well. But since no one knows when to use which…greetings get awkward…very awkward.
What about the 1-kiss?
Have you noticed that we don’t actually kiss each other but it’s mostly cheeks touching while we purse our lips making this kissing sound over and over?
I have a relative who doesn’t make this sound but he kisses our cheeks by making his lips touch our cheeks.
I’m guessing the one kiss greeting is the American version (i see celebs on talk shows doing those)? So we’ve got 1 vs 2 vs 3. Man..this could get awkward real quick.
the hoover kiss… Where your cheeks get literally sucked away
Haha I forgot that one! Our conversation was so long ago!
or sometimes : ” Bel Dayne”
LOL! I actually cringed at how loud those sound!
The last you say 2 vs. 3 try not knowing which side to start from, left-rigth or rigth-left…..
or when huggers meet kissers.
But good one
Wireless, hahahaaa, jad da77akatny hai.
Some kisses have a life of their own (maybe a soul too)!
I have been warned!
Actually in France it’s complicated also: there is even an online map to vote and show how much to do in each département. http://combiendebises.free.fr/ Most often, and from my own experience there also, it is mostly 2 but if you continue, then it is directly 4 and not 3.
When growing up, I dreaded family gatherings because of all the kissing going on. My aunts and cousins (older ones) would grab my face and smooch my cheek, leaving behind a layer of drool mixed with lipstick and an unbearable desire to cleanse the area. My father would not let me clean myself, because cleaning up a kiss was supposedly bad manners…
Yuk!
This reminds me a lot of the kissing issues we have got in Italy… 1-kiss ( imported) versus 2-kiss (the norm). We often end up in kissing on the lips as well, hahahah
Haha! Didn’t know this issue existed elsewhere! Interesting!
I find Italy and Lebanon similar in so many ways
