So this seems to be a new trend adopted from the west it seems. What are your thoughts? Any of you guys really believe those Facebook posts we keep seeing where she was completely surprised and he asked her out of the blue?
An interesting blog post that explains it all from Beyond Beirut: She said yes
we missed these comics … is that you? … well I proposed to her without even the ring. we planned our engagement and our wedding without letting anyone know that we are planning for it
you forgot two important things
a red flower and the diamond ring without them hell will break loose. Well not all lebanese girls are like that but some of them think that if the surprize isn’t surprizing then to hell with this guy…
100%
yea, I always wondered who’s the third person present in the proposal holding the camera… !!?
I am not aware (aware!) of such trend. Thank God I got that out of the way (no biggie surprises, just me and her THEN the others followed/knew)
Hahahaha! I thought I was the only one who saw these as nothing more than a social media gimmick and taking away from the true sentiment of the moment. Don’t forget that a video of the proposal also gets uploaded to Facebook moments after and it’s edited just like a wedding video!
Tala link the post here in the comments so everyone can see it! It’s on point!

It’s nice of her to cut him some slack and not demand a road banner or balloons m3alla2een 3a 3amood ill kahraba!
True those are the girls of Now A Days….. thankfully i left Lebanon…..
The cynic in me sees these grandiose public proposals as the proposer guilt tripping the proposee into saying yes, as saying no would heap humiliation on both of them.
Better to have it as a private event between the two, and then let everyone else know afterwards. Or, if it’s really ‘social media’ necessary, follow the private proposal with a public but symbolic one.
