I remember having a very awkward conversation once with someone. He asked me what “garotsa kezi” means. I told him it meant “I missed you”. However when I translated the phrase into Arabic I used the male gender term of “you”.  He then had a very troubled angry look on his face. He turned and started to make phone calls from a distance. Just then I realized what I had done. I ran to him telling them that whoever it was could have been talking to a girl instead of a guy since “you” in Armenian isn’t gender specific just like in English.

The look of relief on his face was priceless.
